WELCOME TO MINDFULNESS TRAINING FOR CHILDREN

Founder and Program Designer, 

My formal journey with meditation began over thirty years ago as a teenager joining a local yoga group. By the time I become a mother my personal practice became a source of encouragement and helped me better understand myself as a parent and individual. Like all parents, I wanted to prepare my kids the best I could for their future. Now a mother of four adult children, one teenager and a grandmother of two, I’ve discovered that mindfulness is one of the most powerful tools to share with anyone wanting to improve their quality of life.

I am dedicated to supporting individuals, parents, teachers and caregiver in developing a sense of flourishing within themselves and their children. My credentials for teaching mindfulness, meditation and ways of improving wellbeing include:

Over 30 years of meditation and fasting experience (including a 40 day/night fast) and various forms of movement, including yoga, Tai Chi and 12 months of full-time training in traditional Wing Chun.

A B.PsycSci(Hons) (2A) – 2 part thesis on improving well being through mindfulness and sound;

Postgrad mindfulness teacher training through the Wollongong Nan Tien Institute of Higher Education & Emory University, (SEE Learning).

I have created amazing, affordable and transforming online mindfulness courses and developed a 10-week mindfulness-based creative play program for children within childcare settings, which aligns with a parenting wellbeing program for the home.

    What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a key for successfully navigating through life! Mindfulness is the art of living in the present moment through engaging our senses to experience the reality of ‘now’. We learn to use our breath as a foci, or anchor to maintain or regain our attention, while applying a non-judgemental and compassionate awareness to our experience.

Being mindful is a natural human ability, however, in order to truly harness its benefits we must intentionally and regularly practice. Here at Mindfulness For Children we believe that the best way to do that is to teach children all about mindfulness at a young age, through integrating mindfulness practice into enjoyable educational programs.

A Holistic Approach to Developing Wellbeing within Children.Our aim is to provide children with a key to successfully navigate their future. Mindfulness training can improve wellbeing, attention and behaviour within young children. Mindfulness training is a great way to prepare young children for school and also equip them with lifelong coping skills. Since young children can only practice mindfulness for short periods of time we have developed mindfulness training programs that incorporate creativity and scientific discovery.

The mindfulness courses and programs I have created are designed to advance brain development within the areas of attention, behaviour, and respect for others and the environment, while enhancing self-esteem, self-awareness, gratitude, compassion and peace of mind. My focus is on providing both children and adults with an opportunity to develop their imagination, creativity, music and sound appreciation and love for science. Overall, my mindfulness courses and programs focus on developing a strong sense of wellbeing, coupled with a passion for learning through gaining a deeper understanding of our connectedness to each other and the world around us.
